Warrior Arena Macros Guide

June 20, 2008 by Zuggy

Warriors are easily one of the most versatile classes in the game. Whether it is PvP or PvE they will always be needed and used. In PvP, being able to limit the damage a rogue is doing to your partners or even greatly increasing your own survivability can allow you to win. There are simply too many abilities for any warrior to keep track of, and macros are a very efficient way to solve this problem. Every top warrior in arena uses macros to better their skills and utility.

These are the macros that are the most popular and sometimes even a key to winning. Now I don’t believe in having my macros play the game for me but they certainly improved my timing and have simplified my jobs in arenas.

Intervene macro
/cast [nostance:2] Defensive Stance; [Help] Intervene;
[target=targettarget, help] Intervene

This is a basic intervene macro. Now, most warriors will intervene to their partners whenever they are in trouble or when their healer is in trouble. This macro allows you to intervene to your partner without losing your target, you can also use it if you target your friendly target and intervene to them. I suggest this macro to everyone as it is very useful in arenas.

Charge + Intervene Macro
#show [combat] Intercept; Charge
/cast [nocombat,stance:1] Charge; [combat,stance:3] Intercept; [nocombat,nostance:1] Battle Stance; [combat,nostance:3] Berserker Stance
/stopcasting
/cast [stance:1/3] Hamstring

As a warrior, you are going to be in different stances throughout most of your fights, depending on the situation. This can be particularly helpful if you want to save an intercept CD. This macro will basically use charge whenever you are out of combat and if you are in combat it will intercept, in the heat of battle its useful especially if you are in berserker stance and don’t realize that you are out of combat. Clicking this macro after a charge/intercept twice will hamstring your target. Great for locking down rogues that are on other targets.

Overpower Macro
# show Overpower
/cast [stance:1] Overpower; Battle Stance

Not much to say for this macro, switching in and out of stances manually is not only inefficient but it’s also annoying. Just use this macro on anyone who dodges, especially for those double evasion spamming rogues.

Berserker Rage Macro
#show Berserker Rage
/cast [stance:3] Berserker Rage; [stance:1/2] Berserker Stance

As warriors we hate to be CCed. Not only is it very simple to CC us. However, fear is one of the things that can’t keep us CCed for long. This macro will allow you to dodge fears, assuming you read the fear correctly. This macro coupled with Natur Enemy Cast Bars is too overpowered not to use.

Stance Macros
/cast [modifier:alt,nostance:2] Defensive Stance; [stance:1] Berserker Stance; Battle Stance

As I stated before, manually switching stances is very inefficient. Use this macro to switch in and out of battle/berserker stance. Macro is useful because if you hold alt then use it, it will change you into defensive stance.

**change the Modifier to whatever suits your playstyle**

Spell Reflection Macro
#showtooltip Spell Reflection
/cast [stance:1/2,equipped:Shields] Spell Reflection; [stance:3] Defensive Stance
/stopmacro [equipped: Shields]
/equip Vengeful Gladiator’s Shield Wall
/equip The Brutalizer

Every warrior NEEDS to learn and use this macro. If used properly it can allow you to survive if you are getting focus fired. This macro is imperative especially for double DPS teams where you need to survive until your partner’s CC is over. Switches to Shield+1h, shifts you to correct stance and casts Spell Reflection. Must fill the names of your OWN equipment. Only downside is that it will not switch you to Defensive Stance if you are in Battle, since Spell Reflection is usable in Battle. Need to switch to Defensive manually if you’re getting Focus Fired. I usually tend to combine this with the single button stance macro if I am getting focused.

** Change the names of the gear to your own**

Spell Reflection + Stance Change Macro
/cast [stance:1/3]Defensive Stance
/equip The Brutalizer
/equip Vengeful Gladiator’s Shield Wall
/equip Vengeful Gladiator’s Shield Wall
/cast Spell Reflection
/cast [modifier:ctrl] Berserker Stance
/equip [modifier:ctrl] Vengeful Gladiator’s Bonegrinder

Let’s say you see a PoM Pyro Mage, you can expect a pyroblast coming from him. This macro is great to switch into defensive mode for the spell reflect then immediately switch back into offensive mode. Hit it to equip your 1 handed sword and shield and cast spell reflect, hold control and hit the hotkey and it will put you back in berserker stance with your 2 Hander.

**Must change to your own gear, and change the modifier to what suits you**

Pummel / Shield Bash Macro
stance:1/2] Berserker Stance; [stance: 3] Pummel

This is a fairly simple macro, if you have your 2her equipped then it will switch to berserker stance and pummel, but if you are in defensive stance with a 1her and a shield then it will shield bash. It’s a useful macro if you are getting focused.

Disarm Macro
/cast [stance:2] Disarm; [stance:1,3] Defensive Stance

This macro is very useful. Especially for rogues, you can cut out a lot of their DPS and find extra time for your healer. I usually use this coupled with intervene. If you are in defensive stance it will disarm your target otherwise it will switch to defensive stance then disarm. Drastically reduces the time you are in defensive stance.

Execute / AoE Attacks Macro
/startattack
/cast execute
/cast cleave
/cast [stance:1] sweeping strikes
/cast [stance:3] Whirlwind

This macro uses a LOT of rage to support. Though if you have plenty of rage it can be very good for destroying pets and doing some heavy damage. This macro’s primary use is execute and it will use Sweeping strikes and whirlwind depending on stance. Be cautious when using this, you don’t want to give up all your rage just to find out that you didn’t make a good use of it. Try and couple this with a stance dance macro, you can usually pull off both Sweeping strikes and whirlwind which can be devastating to warlocks, mages, priests, and hunters.

Fear + Bandage Macro
/cast Intimidating Shout
/use [target=player] Heavy Netherweave Bandage

This macro is only useful in a match if there is only you and one other opponent standing. It can be very useful in duels though. Make sure that they have used their trinket before using this macro, otherwise it will just go to waste.

Hope these macros will help every warrior that reads it. Macros are very beneficial to every class and mastering them will only add to your skill level. If one of them doesn’t work then please feel free to tell me so I can fix it.

I have tried do use the Spell reflection macro but it doesn’t work. It says “uknown macro option: eqquiped”

  2. Zuggy on September 15th, 2008 8:22 am

because the function is not “eqquiped” it is “equip”. Make sure you are typing the macro in exactly as it appears. If you still have problems with it let me know and I’ll go check it myself.

i am trying to make a macro for hamstring and victory rush but,
    #showtooltip Victory Rush
    /startattack
    /cast Victory Rush
    /cast Hamstring

doesnt work , tried all variations of those including just the rush and ham commands. any ideas?
    thanks

  4. Zuggy on October 2nd, 2008 9:29 am

    /startattack
    /castsequence Victory Rush, Hamstring

The macro you created was failing because both victory rush and hamstring activate your global cool down, requiring a 2 click macro.
